GTA 6 on PC
No PC version is announced. What Rockstar has actually said, how long its own console-to-PC gaps have run, and which signals would mean something.
Last updated: 2026-08-28
Grand Theft Auto VI launches on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19, 2026. There is no PC version announced: no date, no storefront, no system requirements, and no PC entry in the pre-order line-up.
That is the complete official position, and it has not moved. Rockstar did not add a PC SKU when pre-orders opened in June 2026, did not add one alongside the Extended Look gameplay presentation in August, and has published no statement about a PC release at any point.
What can be laid out honestly is the studio's own history of console-to-PC gaps, which is a matter of record and which people reasonably use to guess. It is worth doing carefully, because the four gaps range from seven months to fourteen years - a spread wide enough that quoting the average as a forecast is a way of sounding precise while saying nothing. This page gives the record, states what it does and does not support, and names the signals that would actually count as evidence.
The official position
ConfirmedEvery piece of Rockstar's own material names the same two platforms and no others: the Trailer 1 card, the official site, the pre-order pages, the press release and the screenshot batches. PlayStation 5, including PS5 Pro, and Xbox Series X|S, same day, no timed exclusivity.
PlayStation 4 and Xbox One are not supported. GTA VI is a current-generation title, and the last-gen consoles were never in the plan announced with the game.
On PC, the absence is total rather than partial. Rockstar has named no release date, no storefront, and has published no system requirements. Pre-orders are console-only. There is not a page, a placeholder or a sentence to read, and the difference between "not yet announced" and "announced without a date" matters here: the second would at least be a commitment. This is the first.

Rockstar's console-to-PC gaps
ReportedThe studio's four most relevant releases, with the gap between the first console release and the Windows release:
| Game | Console | PC | Gap |
|---|---|---|---|
| Grand Theft Auto IV | April 29, 2008 | December 2, 2008 | about seven months |
| Red Dead Redemption | May 18, 2010 | October 29, 2024 | about fourteen years |
| Grand Theft Auto V | September 17, 2013 | April 14, 2015 | about nineteen months |
| Red Dead Redemption 2 | October 26, 2018 | November 5, 2019 | about twelve months |
Two of these deserve a note.
GTA 5's PC version did not arrive alone. The game was re-released for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in November 2014, five months before the PC version, and again for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S in March 2022. The PC release sat inside a multi-year programme of re-releases rather than being a straight port of the original.
Red Dead Redemption is the outlier that keeps the pattern honest. Its PC port took fourteen years and arrived after a Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 release in 2023. A studio that has done this once can do it again, which is why "Rockstar always brings its games to PC eventually" is a statement about eventually and not about a date.
What the pattern supports, and what it does not
The record supports a narrow claim: Rockstar has released its major titles on PC after the console version, never simultaneously, and never before. That is consistent across all four.
It does not support a date. Three of the four gaps cluster between seven and nineteen months and the fourth is fourteen years, so the honest range from precedent alone is "somewhere between under a year and never in this decade". Forecasts putting GTA 6 on PC in a specific window are analyst inference built on the three short gaps with the long one dropped, and they are presented on many sites as though they were reporting. They are not; nothing has been reported, because there is nothing to report.
There is also a difference between this launch and the earlier ones worth holding in mind. GTA 5 shipped on a console generation that was at its end and was carried forward by re-releases. GTA 6 launches on current hardware in the middle of its life, which changes the commercial logic behind any port without telling us which way.
The safe line, and the one this wiki uses: PC is not confirmed for the November 19, 2026 launch, and no PC release has been announced for any date.
What would count as evidence
When the PC version becomes real, it will be visible in specific places. These are the ones worth watching:
- A Rockstar Newswire post. This is how every date in this game's history has been announced, including both delays.
- A store page with a publisher behind it - the Rockstar Games Store, Steam or the Epic Games Store - carrying a release date rather than a wishlist button.
- Published system requirements. Rockstar publishes these for its PC releases; they do not exist ahead of an announcement.
- A rating board entry for a PC version. Ratings are filed per platform and are a matter of public record.
And the things that are routinely presented as evidence and are not: a retailer placeholder listing, which retailers create speculatively and delete quietly; a database entry on a storefront's back end, which reflects internal plumbing rather than a plan; an unnamed insider; and a job posting mentioning PC, which describes a studio's skills rather than a product.
When any of the first four appears, it goes into the news feed and this page is rewritten the same day.
System requirements
ConfirmedNone have been published, so there is nothing here to list.
This is worth saying flatly because specification tables for GTA 6 circulate widely, complete with minimum and recommended tiers, GPU names and storage figures. They are invented. Rockstar has not shipped a PC version to write requirements for, and a requirement table is produced from a finished build against tested hardware - it cannot be derived from a trailer or from a console specification.
The one technical fact that is confirmed and adjacent: Rockstar states that both the second trailer and the Extended Look were captured entirely in-game on a PlayStation 5, and for the Extended Look, on a base PS5 rather than a Pro. That tells you what the console version looks like running on the hardware it was built for. It tells you nothing about a PC port's requirements.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is GTA 6 coming to PC?+
Not announced. Rockstar has named no PC release date, no storefront and no system requirements, and pre-orders are console-only. The game launches on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19, 2026.
When will GTA 6 release on PC?+
There is no date. Rockstar's own gaps between a console release and a PC release have run about seven months for GTA 4, about nineteen for GTA 5, about twelve for Red Dead Redemption 2 and about fourteen years for the first Red Dead Redemption. A range that wide supports no forecast.
What are the GTA 6 PC system requirements?+
None have been published. Any specification table for GTA 6 on PC is invented, because requirements are produced from a finished PC build tested against real hardware and no PC build has been announced.
Is GTA 6 on PS4 or Xbox One?+
No. GTA VI is a current-generation title on PlayStation 5, including PS5 Pro, and Xbox Series X|S. The last-generation consoles are not supported.
Will buying the console version get me the PC version later?+
Rockstar has said nothing about this, because there is no PC version to upgrade to. Do not assume any cross-platform entitlement; the editions page covers what each console version actually includes.
