Editions & Pre-Order

There are exactly two editions, and both release day-and-date on November 19, 2026. The core game is identical in each: the full Grand Theft Auto VI story and open world set across Leonida, following dual protagonists Jason and Lucia. The difference is a bundle of extra content in Ultimate.

Three structural facts are worth stating plainly because they answer the most common purchase questions:

• No paid early access. Neither edition unlocks the game before November 19. Paying $99.99 does not get you in early - it gets you extra in-game content.
• Upgrade any time. Standard owners can buy an Ultimate Edition upgrade separately, including after launch. You are not forced to commit $100 up front to eventually get the Ultimate rewards.
• The $79.99 base is the headline. This is the first mainline GTA to launch at an $80 base price. The $20 Ultimate premium is positioned by Rockstar as adding "an exclusive collection of premium vehicles, weapons, apparel, and action" on top of the same campaign.

Press consensus is that the Ultimate exclusives are largely day-one shops, side activities, and cosmetics - they do not gate main-story progression. Standard players get the complete campaign.

The US dollar prices - $79.99 Standard, $99.99 Ultimate - are confirmed by Rockstar. Regional storefront prices below were observed live when pre-orders opened on June 25, 2026, and are cross-checked across outlets, but they are reported until an official regional price list is cited. Treat non-USD figures as provisional.

UK outlets flagged the £70 / $80 / €80 split at launch: UK Standard at £69.99 undercuts a straight currency conversion from the dollar and euro prices. Four dates define the pre-order window, all confirmed by Rockstar:

• June 25, 2026 - pre-orders open. They went live at midnight local time, rolling out region by region across the PlayStation Store, Xbox/Microsoft Store, the Rockstar Games Store, and physical retailers.
• November 12, 2026 - pre-load and box shipping. Digital pre-orders can begin pre-loading, and physical boxes ship from this date - one week before launch - specifically to enable that pre-load.
• November 19, 2026 - release. The game unlocks on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. This is also the day the Vintage Vice City Pack is delivered in-game.
• Before November 20, 2026 - bonus cutoff. Any purchase placed before this date qualifies for the Vintage Vice City Pack, and digital purchases for the free GTA+ month.

This is the single most misunderstood detail, so it is worth being blunt about it:

• The physical edition is Standard only, and the box contains a download code - there is no game disc inside.
• Boxes ship from November 12, 2026, a week before launch, purely so buyers can enter the code and pre-load early.
• Because it is a code in a box, the physical copy has no second-hand value as a playable disc. It functions as a collectible sleeve plus a digital entitlement, not a resellable game.
• There is no Ultimate physical box. Ultimate is digital-only, so Ultimate content cannot be obtained through any boxed product - you buy it (or upgrade to it) digitally.

If the goal is a shelf copy, the physical Standard box delivers the packaging but not a disc. If the goal is the Ultimate content, the only route is digital.

Every pre-order of either edition placed before November 20, 2026 receives the Vintage Vice City Pack, which Rockstar describes as items that "flash back to when the neon burned brightest." It is delivered in-game at launch on November 19.

The pack's itemised contents are reported rather than officially detailed, though sources agree closely. Reported inclusions:

• A classic '55 Vapid Stanier sedan with an accompanying personal garage near Ocean Beach.
• Vintage outfits and 1980s-styled hair for both protagonists - for example a pastel linen suit for Jason and a red sequin dress for Lucia.
• A tropical palm-tree weapon pattern, framed as a nod to Vice City's original palm-tree-shirt iconography.

Separately, digital pre-orders receive one free month of GTA+ (confirmed). Ultimate includes everything in Standard plus an exclusive collection woven through the story. The categories are officially confirmed - premium vehicles, personalized weapons, exclusive apparel and tattoos, and Ultimate-only shops and activities. The specific names below are press- and community-sourced and are not fully consistent between outlets. Rockstar's own detail page will be the tiebreaker; treat everything in this section as reported and provisional.

Vehicles (reported): a '95 Grotti Cheetah sports car, a '67 Vapid Dominator Buggy with an accompanying garage, and a Shitzu Squalo watercraft, among others. Some additional vehicles appear in single sources only and should be treated cautiously.

Weapons (reported): a matching set of Hawk & Little revolvers for the two protagonists, plus personalized variants of their signature pistols.

Shops and activities (reported, names conflict): outlets cite exclusive vendors for car mods, hair and tattoos, and clothing, along with a reported set of signature tattoo designs for both leads. The names and functions of these shops differ across sources - some attribute the salon/tattoo role to one venue, others to another - so the specific shop list should be read as unsettled until Rockstar confirms it.

The important nuance: these Ultimate extras are day-one shops, side content and cosmetics, and press consensus holds they do not lock any part of the main campaign away from Standard players.

As of this writing, Rockstar has announced no Special Edition and no physical Collector's Edition - no steelbook, statue, art book, or merch bundle. Ultimate is the top tier. That absence is confirmed.

What follows is speculation, not a leak. For Grand Theft Auto V, Rockstar opened standard pre-orders first in late 2012 and only revealed Special and Collector's Editions months later, in 2013. On that precedent, some outlets suggest a premium physical edition *could* still surface closer to the November 19, 2026 launch. This is an inference from history, not evidence of an actual product, and there is no credible leaked SKU for a GTA VI collector's edition.

Third-party "GTA VI steelbook" listings on marketplaces are unofficial merchandise, not a Rockstar edition.
